THE BIRTH OF VENUS

SANDRO BOTTICELLI 1480

Painted by Sandro Botticelli during the height of the Renaissance period. For a long time scholars wrongly assumed this to be a painting of Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love. However, a recently uncovered journal from the artist reveal that it was actually a painting of his favorite horse, whose name was also Venus. Now, I know what you are thinking, its pretty obviously a horse how did these scholars get it so wrong? My answer is that they were probably on drugs.
